The Davao Bloggers Society Kicks Off Its 20th Anniversary with  “Weaving Connections” in Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, and  Announces “ANINAG” as Christmas Party Theme

The Davao Bloggers Society (DBS) officially kicked off its 20th anniversary celebration through Weaving  Connections: An Immersive DBS Experience, a two-day acquaintance party held last June 6-7, 2026, at  Punta Isla Resort in Lake Sebu, South Cotabato.

In the organization’s first-ever acquaintance party outside the Davao region, Weaving Connections brought  together a total of 35 attendees, including DBS members alongside fellow digital creators from Iloilo  Bloggers Society, CDO Bloggers, SOX Bloggers, and Kidapawan Bloggers Society. More than a gathering,  the event was designed to drive meaningful connections among creators while celebrating culture,  community, and shared experiences.

An Impactful Journey of Culture and Connection

True to its name, Weaving Connections drew inspiration from the TBoli people’s rich weaving traditions.  All attendees visited the Lang Dulay Weaving Center, where they learned about the intricate art and  cultural significance behind TBoli textiles. It was an experience that set the tone for a weekend.

The main acquaintance party program featured a cultural immersion by Punta Isla Performing Arts, a TBoli  group that presented traditional dances, depicting rituals of courtship, harvest, and more worship. Chef  Christian Louie Penit also engaged the audience with a live “love cooking” session. Despite the evening  downpour, the attendees moved indoors, enjoying the dinner buffet, raffle draws, and the official  announcement of ANINAG, the official theme of DBS’s 20th anniversary finale celebration and Christmas  party on December 5, 2026.

Day two offered a tranquil lotus boat ride complete with traditional TBoli attire, a breakfast cruise with  cultural performances, and an optional zipline adventure at the Seven Falls Eco-Tourism Park, home to the  highest and longest zip line in Southeast Asia. foodpanda sponsored a farewell lunch stopover in General  Santos City, giving the attendees one final chance to bond before returning to Davao.

More than Just an Acquaintance Party

DBS intentionally chose Lake Sebu because it provided the ideal setting for an experience rooted in  community, the values that have defined the organization for two decades. DBS has consistently woven  together not just bloggers and partners but also the greater society, especially those in need.

The attendees walked away with more than just memories and new friendships. The event strengthened  relationships across blogging communities while cultivating a deeper appreciation for TBoli culture and  heritage.

“For our 20th anniversary, we wanted to start with an experience rather than a celebration. Weaving  Connections gave us the opportunity to bring together creators, learn more about TBoli culture, and create  memories beyond our usual events. The event became much more meaningful that way. Seeing those connections happen during the weekend reminded us what DBS has always been about: community,” said  Gem Tadefa, President of Davao Bloggers Society

Tadefa extended his gratitude to event partners: Punta Isla Resort, PLDT Home, Hop Inn Hotels  Philippines, and foodpanda for making the experience possible and more enjoyable.

Looking Ahead

Weaving Connections serves as the opening chapter of DBS’s year-long 20th anniversary celebration. The  milestone year will continue with more meaningful experiences and initiatives before culminating in  ANINAG on December 5, 2026, a celebration honoring two decades of growth, storytelling, community  building, and meaningful connections.
